Fonda has a broad background of clinical experience, working with children and adults, and in a context of individual, couples or family therapy.
Fonda has worked with children clinically for ten years in a variety of treatment contexts. Some of the services she provides for children are: trauma resolution, anxiety management, and specific phobias; assisting children to navigate life changes such as divorce of parents or loss of a parent; socialization, challenges; support regarding school difficulties, learning disabilities, ADHD, and Aspergers. She provides support for parents who are interested in improving their parenting skills.. Oppositional-defiant children are generally asking for help and Fonda is comfortable working with “problem” children, as long as the parent is committed to the process.
Ms. Hart has 15 years of experience working with adolescents in various treatment settings and has worked with “hard core” teens as well. She enjoys engaging teens in discovering and resolving issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts, addictions, school problems, family issues, peer relationships, sexual values, and self esteem. She is available to assist parents to increase their skills for relating to their teen. She believes it is important to assist teens to explore and define their own values, and to learn assertiveness skills for living according to those values, and she is available to help with that process.
Fonda works a lot with women who have experienced trauma or abuse. Using EMDR and other tools she works with clients toward resolution and healing. She is available to provide therapy for mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, grief, coping with singleness or childlessness, relationship difficulties, career issues, communication and assertiveness, and self-esteem. She works with clients to increase a sense of congruency between who they are on the inside and how they express that on the outside.
Fonda works with couples who are committed to a healthy relationship to reduce emotional reactivity, improve their communication skills and the ability to resolve conflict, and to move to a deeper level of intimacy and friendship.
Having worked with families in ministry for several years and being a former missionary, Fonda appreciates the unique dynamics of being in cross-cultural or local ministry. She is able to assist with acculturation issues and trauma related to international or relief work. She is also qualified to address “normal” therapy issues in a way that accommodates the ministry lifestyle and worldview. She enjoys working with adults who have grown up in a ministry family and the residual issues inherent to that lifestyle.
