ADHD and Learning Disabilities

You may be surprised to know that there are many famous and successful people – past and present – who have (or had) Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or Learning Disabilities.

Not everyone who has ADHD is hyperactive. Some people have Attention Deficit Disorder Inattentive Type, meaning they have difficulty staying focused (or can become over-focused) but are not hyperactive. If you or your child has ADHD, medication may be one part of effective treatment.

There are various types of learning disabilities, including (but not exclusively) dyslexia. If a student is having difficulty functioning in school due to a learning disability, that student has a legal right to accommodations which will improve academic functioning. There are agencies to provide support to parents seeking help for their child at school. Fonda has attended IEP and 504 meetings for children in treatment for learning disabilities and other developmental disorders to help ensure the child’s needs were met and to facilitate collaborative communication between the parent and the school authorities.

BrainPaint neurofeedback is very effective as an alternative or adjunct to medication. Neurofeedback involves retraining brainwave activity to improve focus and attention, reduce distractibility, and get the brainwaves firing more efficiently altogether. Feel free to contact Fonda for more information regarding Brainpaint for you or your child.
